Western State Bank is a proud participant in the Kansas Homeowner Assistance Fund (KHAF) program, which helps qualifying Kansans get current on their mortgages and property taxes and avoid foreclosure.

Audience Served
Kansans who have had difficulty paying their mortgages, property taxes, homeowner association fees, utilities, or internet/broadband payments due to financial hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic may be eligible to receive financial assistance.
Homeowners apply through an online process. If the application is approved, the KHAF funds are sent and applied directly to homeowners’ accounts, helping homeowners receive aid as quickly as possible.
Qualifications
Eligibility is based on a variety of factors including household gross income, whether or not the property is the applicant's primary residence, duration of the applicant's delinquency, timing of pandemic-related financial hardship, and more. Assistance Terms
$45,000 Max Assistance Amount (this is a combination of up to $35,000 in mortgage reinstatement and payment assistance, plus up to $10,000 in property charges and utility/internet/broadband assistance) provided as a grant up to $25,000 and a two year forgivable loan for mortgage-related assistance over $25,000.
